IRGC Officers Killed in Venezuela

Iranian news website Tabnak, quoting Asharq Alawsat, reported today that four IRGC officers were killed in the crash of a Venezuelan military helicopter on May 3rd in Venezuela-Columbia border region. The IRGC officers were in the country to be trained on the use of advanced night vision goggles purchased by IRGC from Venezuela.

The four officers were part of a team of high-ranking Iranian defense officials, headed by Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, which had arrived in Caracas on 30 April 2009. The names or the ranks of the four officers have not been disclosed.

Tabnak
is controlled by former IRGC commander Mohsen Rezaie.
