Iran’s Dinner Party: Trying to Avoid UN Sanctions?

Iran is hosting a dinner tonight for UN Security Council members. Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki invited the 15-nation council to dinner at Iran's UN Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee's residence, and representatives of all member nations, including US deputy ambassador Alejandro Wolff, are expected to attend [AP, 6 May].

The unusual dinner party is the latest indication of Iran’s diplomatic and political push to make its case and avoid further UN sanctions over its uranium enrichment program.
